Happy Couple Daniel Wu and Lisa Selesner

It's been leaked out that Daniel Wu was secretly married last April 6, 2010 to American actress Lisa Selesner (who is of French, Chinese and American descent). Hmmm it seems that Chinese-American marriages have begun to spin around- usually it's a Chinese woman with the American guy in these kinds of intermarriages (like I have a friend who's half-Swiss on the father side, half-Chinese on the mother side), now it's reverse. I'm almost reminded of Bruce Lee's marriage to Linda Emery way back in the past.

  1. For your information, they are both Americans; so this is not an international marriage.

That said, this is technically an inter-racial marriage because she is bi-racial and have some Caucasian bloodline. In addition, this is an interfaith marriage because she is Jewish and I don't know what he is.

I do agree with you that in most Asian/Caucasian relationships usually involves Asain females. As an Asian American, I see my share of it in my country.

Some attributes this to our post colonial mindset: that the white men remain to be viewed as culturally and physically superior despite what Bruce Lee has done. And the Asian males bear some fault too in terms of confidence issue. Just look at the HK entertainment circle, how does a young asian male supposes to derive confidence from the fact that these movies suggest the best and most attractive men are all over 40's and 50's and they are the one who gets the younger girls.

  2. @Anonymous-

It's more of a mixed marriage that is in terms of ethnicity- American-Chinese and American.

I agree- I kind of thought that older men are not always attractive. I have an uncle who married at the age of 40 to a 30 year old girl.

Concerning colonial mindset- it's really upsetting to see how many Asians fall victim to the wrong guy because of that. In fact, I got bullied for being oriental before, and that I got prohibited from dating non-Orientals.

I kind of thought though I wouldn't mind marrying a Caucasian girl although I would naturally prefer Chinese/Japanese girls.

  3. I totally agree with that theirs is a mixed marriage in terms of ethnicity. It is a Chinese/Jewish mixed marriage. "American" is not an ethnicity group only of Caucasian extractions because it is a country encompasses all ethnicities including the Chinese. Just look at our president now; he has a Chinese-Canadian brother in law and a Chinese (from China) sister in law.

I am glad you agree that Asian males are generally treated like children until they are middle aged when they all of a sudden become "desirable" as told by the culture. Perhaps this is a major turnoff for some Asian females who opts for the "greener pastures" of caucasian males and increasingly black males.
